OIDC4VP

OpenID Connect for Verifiable Presentations and (OIDC4VP) is a protocol that enables the presentation of verifiable credentials in a standardized and interoperable way. At Portabl, we use OIDC4VP to power the Connect feature for sign-in and sign-up.

OIDC4VP builds on top of the OpenID Connect (OIDC) protocol (opens in a new tab), itself built on top of OAuth 2.0, and adds support for the exchange of verifiable credentials between parties. This enables users to prove their identity and share information about themselves in a secure and privacy-preserving way.

By using OIDC4VP, Portabl is able to provide a seamless and secure user experience for sign-in and sign-up, while also ensuring that user data is protected and only shared with authorized parties.

You can find the full specification for OIDC4VP on the OpenID website(opens in a new tab) (opens in a new tab).
